About Us
Chefs 4 Your Life's Mission The importance of educating youth about how to protect their health through good nutrition cannot be overstated. The surge of diet-related diseases spreading across America is a clear indicator that we are not making smart decisions about the food we put into our bodies. A leader in the whole-food movement, Michael Pollan, has recently published a book entitled 'In Defense of Food.' Much of Chefs 4 Your Life's philosophy matches the ideas in this book. The following is a particularly relevant excerpt: "Most of us no longer eat what our mothers ate as children or, for that matter, what our mothers fed us as children. This is the first time in history that this has happened. We are reprogramming our genes in a very unbeneficial way. The human body is designed to eat food provided by the earth - period. We could eliminate most of our physical ailments if we could simply follow Pollan's advice: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." Chefs 4 Your Life's goal is to help put whole food back into the American diet, by providing comprehensive cooking/food education training to teens, young adults and adults with little cooking experience. The only way to have control of your physical being is to be in charge of your own food preparation. When someone else is cooking your food, you can never know the true contents of your meal. Chefs 4 Your Life is designed to function as a year-round program available to help physicians and wellness providers support their patients' desire to lead a healthier lifestyle. It is also designed to support organizations that are dedicated to successful youth-development in their community. The program runs as a two, four, six, eight or ten week series. Classes are two hours in length. Once a particular day has filled the 20 participant minimum requirement, your organization need only to contact our office and we will bring the program to your location. A location with a kitchen is preferred but not necessary. All food and materials are provided for each participant.
